Salem Elementary School, Sackville, New Brunswick Community Description

The name of our school is Salem Elementary. There are nearly 400 students in our school. We have grades kindergarten to grade 4 at Salem.  Most students take a bus  to school. Some students walk or drive. Our community is a town and most students live in houses. There are lots of important buildings in Sackville like the fire station,  police station, town hall, churches, schools, and stores. Moncton is a city nearby where there are lots of stores.

There are lots of things for children to do in our town. We like to go to go to the park, visit the Waterfowl Park, go skating, and play hockey, basketball, soccer and baseball. This weekend is our first annual Winterfest with outdoor skating, hockey games and a skating show to watch. We can also go cross country skiing!

Many people work at Moneris, a call centre, and Mount Allision Univeristy in our town.

The land around Sackville is mostly wetlands. We live next to the Tantramar Marsh. There are lots of wildlife that live in the marsh such as bald eagles, seagulls, ducks, pheasants, and geese. Sackville is at the head of Fundy Bay, which has the highest tides in the world.
